Showcase: a storybook message that travels to mum

A boy in bed at night, a city tower in the window, types a message to his mum. The message turns into a point of light, dives under the sea along a cable, races through a data center, and lands on a phone in a sunny kitchen, where his mum smiles. It ends on the Earth and "happy birthday, mum". Navy and cream, like a printed picture book, with small cream caption labels and a calm voiceover.

How we made it

1. The painted scenes, the bedroom, the data center corridor and the kitchen, are generated illustrations in one consistent style.
2. Some scenes are not paintings at all. The sea and the line of light are HTML and CSS, which let the light move smoothly on the voice.
3. The voiceover is a stock voice. Caption labels in cream boxes sit under each scene.
4. Slow pushes on every painting keep it alive.
