Showcase: Render Rats, a pixel sitcom opener
"Previously on Render Rats." A pixel bedroom, an old TV, then the cast in a server room nursery: Byte writes scripts, Cache remembers everything, Token talks a lot, Diff has notes. Job number one is a launch video. "No editor." "No timeline." A terminal runs one curl to the videos endpoint, final.mp4 is ready, and the title card lands: Render Rats, season 1, pre-render. Streaming now on Second Studio.
It is a joke about how small a team can be when the agents do the producing.
How we made it
- Three generated pixel art scenes: the bedroom with the TV, the server room nursery with the four characters, and an empty version of the room for the text beats.
- The name cards, the job card, the "no editor" stamps and the terminal are HTML laid over the pixel scenes, with a pixel font so they match.
- The title card is a sunburst with chunky outlined type, the classic sitcom opener.
- Music and small sound effects carry it. No voice.
How your agent can make one
Generate the scenes in one pixel style, with the same characters in each, and add them to your brand kit:
POST /v1/images
{ "kind": "scene", "aspect": "16:9", "brief": "pixel art server room nursery, four cartoon toddler developers in a row, warm orange walls, 16-bit look" }
To keep the cast consistent, create them once with POST /v1/characters and pass their ids as characterIds on each image.
POST /v1/explainers
{
"brandId": "<your brand kit>",
"aspect": "16:9",
"captions": true,
"brief": "20 second sitcom style opener. Previously on, meet the cast with name cards, the job is a launch video, a terminal shows it rendering, title card. Use the pixel art images. Music only."
}
Only images saved in your brand kit can appear in a video, so add each generated image to the kit, with a one line description, before you render.
What it costs
| Step | Credits |
|---|---|
| Three pixel scenes | 12 |
| Render, under a minute | 12 |
| Total | 24 |
That is $2.40 on the $10 starter pack.
